Best experience till this point, museum wise.
The place is not too big or to fancy but there are alot of special aviation pieces and the guided tour is 100% the best ever. All of the guys there are retired military pilots or mechanics and they have alot of patience and passion.
Excelent. Do not miss
Great place for relaxing and discovering old planes
Very nice and cool selection of aircraft, french speaking guide talking us through it all, they talked a bit english.
Even got to sit in a mirage 2000!
A treasure trove of French warlords. Our guide was lovely and very informative.
Great Aviation Museum ! Little known museum near Lyon that has an incredible collection of mainly french aircraft's of all periods. The guides are very friendly and useful and you can even spend some time in the cockpits of a decommissioned Mirage 2000 and Jaguar. Highly recommended if you have kids !
This is an absolutely blinding museum. It appears to be run by enthusiasts. It's small but it had some historically important stuff summated be the French armed forces; prototypes, the plane flown by the first French woman fighter pilot who broke the air speed record at the time (I think) etc.The chap who took us round was a lovely person; an ex pilot who showed us some of the jets in which he had flown and trained. The first thing we did was sit in the cockpit of a Sepecat (I think)Jaguar and a Mirage 2000c. That, alone was worth the €24 (for 3) entrance fee.
The joy of these small museums is that often you can get up close and personal with the planes in a way that is just not possible in their bigger and more well known counterparts. But it was not just the historical significance of the planes they had, but the wonderful, anecdotal nature of the tour that made it so brilliant. As an ex pilot, our guide was enthusiastic, very knowledgeable and his pride in and passion for French aviation history shone through and was a joy in itself. He was also very entertaining, having the very dry sense of humour that appears to be obligatory for pilots anywhere.
This museum was hard to find - Google appeared to think it was in the middle of a roundabout - but persevere because it's great fun and absolutely worth the effort. A hidden gem.
Amazing experience, lovely stuff. Love it 👍
Small museum. Very cramped so hard to see and appreciate the displays. No English speakers on staff when we visited.
